Here is an extract from our latest Visit England Assessment, which awarded Riverside Terrace Five Stars, the highest attainment possible for a self-catering accommodation:
“Externally, all three properties present to a high standard with each one being clearly named. Guests benefit from having dedicated parking spaces. Very well located for ease of accessing many places of interest. The open plan living areas offer very comfortable spatial aspects. Decorative standards are cleanly presented. Tiled floors in very good repair with rugs adding comfort and colour. Easy seating and occasional furniture all in very good order. Very comfortable levels of heating and lighting. Bedrooms remain very well presented with high quality flooring and matched furniture. Beds are sound with firm, well protected mattresses. All are well presented with co-ordinated linens. Bathroom facilities continue to meet guests expectations at this high level and all have been well maintained. Tiling to the floors is most practical. Modern sanitary ware and fittings are in sound working condition. Kitchens have tiling to the splash back which is in very good order. Hygienic flooring in place. Very well fitted with quality units and work surfaces. Appliances appear to be in good working condition. Effective lighting levels with efficient heating and extraction in place. Ample supplies of table and cookware. All three properties were occupied at time of assessment taking place but underlying levels of housekeeping and cleanliness were seen to be very high”.

Such a great stay at Waterside. This is a really beautifully presented accommodation thinking about every need of all guests. The location of Riverside Terrace is really useful; a close drive tom the city centre, however still far enough to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Lake District. There is also access to many hiking routes without having to trek to far. And we highly recommend the Rydal caves just down the road. Our week went by to quickly and we are certainly looking forward to visiting again and enjoying nature!

We have had a fabulous week in a fabulous cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped for everything we needed. Great walks from door, Rydal caves, Loughrigg Fell, Wansfell Pike. Good walkers lunches at Troutbeck – Mortal Man, Skelwith Bridge, and Britania in Eskdale. Finally Doi Intanon was a very good Thai meal.

Riverside terrace was the perfect set up in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We were fortunate to arrive earlier than expected and given that we were the first guests after lockdown we were able to check in early, which was a welcome surprise. We loved everything about Riverside Terrace, from the cleanliness to the stunning views, the interior and modern touches, the hospitality, and of course the Christmas tree. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were extremely comfortable, lovely bathrooms and the log burner really added to our stay given it was December and snowy.
Thank you again to Kevin and Margaret, our stay at Riverside Terrace really made our first Lake District visit a memory to remember and we can’t wait to return, and we’ll certainly be staying at Riverside Terrace again.

Julie and I loved Viewpoint in so many ways.
Clearly the location next to the River Rothay and the gentle backdrop of the fells, all being enjoyed almost inside your front room....beautiful.
The cottages are so very quiet and peaceful and allow for tranquility, as well as being a wonderful base for walking across the Lakes.
Our week was very wet, which is of no consequence to Julie and I as seasoned Lake lovers, but the cottage was great to come back into the warm and comfort and to easily cook in the wonderful equipped kitchen.
The week was wonderful....Thanks again...we would like to return given the opportunity.

We had a fantastic week in the Lake District and were really happy with the accommodation at Riverside Terrace. We managed to get out for long walks on all of the six full days we were there which was great. We loved everything about the property. It was spotlessly clean, hot water was always available which was particularly useful when we came back from a long days walking. The beds were wonderful, both spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped which enabled us to enjoy cooking from “home” every evening. We have no suggestions on improvements as we feel you have got things just right. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. We usually visit the Lakes once a year so will hopefully be able to book in again next year.

Riverside Terrace is a stunning property in a beautiful setting, so much so that when we parked our car we didn’t move it for a week! Mornings consisted of a pleasant 20 minute walk through the country lanes to Ambleside, coffee in Zeffirelli’s (coffee, food and staff all excellent!), a little shopping, a return stroll and a light lunch, sometimes on the patio enjoying the open country views and listening to the stream! Afternoons were a variety of walks such as to Rydal Park, Rydal Lake or a little further afield to Grasmere. Evenings were a mix of eating in (using the very well equipped kitchen) or out to one of the many good (vegetarian) restaurants in Ambleside (we walked both ways again - good torch required!). So one of our best holidays ever and we hope to be back just as soon as we can!

We had a fantastic stay at Viewpoint. I want to thank you for all your excellent efforts to make the accommodation as Covid-19 secure as possible. Viewpoint is an amazing property and has been designed and finished to an extremely high standard. You could not ask for a better location, having my morning coffee with the superb vistas was one of my favourite parts of our break. I do have to make a special comment for the extremely comfortable bed!! It was a luxury to have so many walks on our doorstep with no need to drive. My wife and I have no hesitation recommending Riverside Terrace and are looking forward to visiting again as soon as possible.

We really appreciated everything you had thoughtfully put in place to ensure our clean and safe stay, so much so that we have already booked our next walking week at Waterside next year. As a super extra, whatever you do to condition the lovely vase of flowers is remarkable. I kept having to reassure myself they were real!

Thank you for another great holiday at Riverside Terrace. We were spoilt with sunshine all week so the Lake District was at its stunning best. Similarly, River’s Edge was as lovely as we remembered it and it was very hard to drag ourselves away from it each morning. All your Covid precautions made it feel very safe and do not take anything away from the magic of the place. We are so glad we have booked for a fortnight next year.

We had such a special time this year thank you and fell in love even more with RiversEdge, the weather was incredible so it gave us the opportunity to enjoy the terrace which we had never done before due to the weather each time we visited. RiversEdge was perfect when we arrived and exceptionally clean and had no worries at all about our safety due to Covid. Our visit this time included walking up Skiddaw the views were incredible, we also walked up Loughrigg Fell which was the first time, fantastic walk again with beautiful views. We also visited Whinlatter and hired bikes which the boys really enjoyed and on our departure we left for Derwentwater to do Kayaking which was great fun..The boys had great fun in the water by the stepping stones and also at Grasmere Lake....PERFECT! We will definitely be back and looking forward to planning our next stay with you. Thank you again for being fabulous hosts!!!

We had a terrific time at Riverside Terrace. The property was the perfect base for exploring the local area and beyond. Far enough out of Ambleside to be quiet and tranquil, yet only a pleasant walk away. There were plenty of enjoyable walks of varying degrees of difficulty from the property that cut down on the need to drive very far. The Covid19 measures were sensible, practical and appreciated. Also, your flexibility when booking really put our mind at rest, as we were all in an uncertain position. The property certainly has the wow factor. Inside everything was very comfortable and well thought out. The bedrooms and bathrooms are excellent. Having the boot room area at the entrance was also a great, as we did have bit of rain during our stay. As always holidays are over far too quickly, but I hope to stay with you again soon.

It is also very tastefully decorated and thoughtfully stocked. When we booked we also did not realise what a great location the cottage is in - so close to a range of beautiful hiking trails, Ambleside and the lakes. We would love to come back and will wholeheartedly recommend to our friends.

We found Riverside every bit as tranquil and beautiful as it looks on the website. The location was exceptional; we hardly used our car, preferring to head out in different directions each day to explore the mountains and villages. Waterside was great. The accommodation is great, it’s spacious, very well appointed and it provided everything we needed. We had intended to possibly take some tentative steps into getting back into eating out in restaurants but the accommodation was so good and we felt it was so relaxing to stay and look over that beautiful view of the valley (which was so changeable but also lovely whatever the weather) that we stayed in the property and cooked every night. We would definitely recommend the properties to friends and would also look to visit again at some point in the future.

Riverside Terrace is an ideal location; spectacular views, tranquil river running below. The properties are striking from the outside, light, spacious and comfortable inside with modern decor and fittings. Under Loughrigg is close to Ambleside which has great facilities and is very central in The Lakes. Perfect - we are very envious!

This sensitively designed & environmentally considered building sits perfectly & naturally into Rydal's magnificent scenery of fells and farmland. The exterior of the building with its local slate facings echoing the dry stone walls of this glorious landscape. There are idyllic views from the property and impeccable taste & thought has gone into the design of the interiors.
